Stewardship: A Partnership with God

Hello, AMUC family!

Let’s talk about stewardship—a word we often hear in church, yet it sometimes feels like it belongs in an accountancy office rather than in our spiritual lives. But here’s the thing: stewardship is central to being a Christian. It’s not just about money (though we’ll get to that); it’s about how we manage everything God has entrusted to us—our time, talents, treasures, temple (that’s our body!), and even the environment.

So, make yourself a cuppa, and let’s explore why stewardship matters and how it transforms not only our lives but the world around us.

First things first—stewardship isn’t about God demanding things from us. It’s about Him trusting us with His creation and saying, “Partner with Me.” Incredible, isn’t it? Everything we have—our abilities, our resources, even our very breath—comes from Him. Stewardship is about recognising that truth and managing what He’s given us in a way that honours Him.

Think about it: If someone lent you a car, would you treat it carelessly? Of course not! You’d drive it responsibly, keep it clean, and return it in good condition. The same goes for what God has entrusted to us—He’s watching to see if we’re faithful stewards.

Time: The Gift We All Have

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, but how we use them speaks volumes. Are we spending our time growing spiritually, serving others, and making a positive impact? Or are we Netflixing for hours on end (no judgement, I’ve been there)?

Jesus showed us the ultimate example of how to use time wisely. He didn’t rush, but He didn’t waste time either. He prioritised prayer, people, and purpose. Stewardship of time means aligning our schedules with God’s priorities—and yes, that includes rest!

Talents: Yes, You Have Them!

Now, let’s talk about your talents. Don’t tell me you don’t have any, because that’s simply not true. Whether you can sing, teach, organise, bake, or build, God has placed unique gifts in you. Stewardship means using those talents to bless others and glorify Him.

Not sure where to start? Look around! The church, the community, and even your family need what you bring to the table. Stewardship of talent isn’t about doing everything—it’s about doing something with what you’ve been given.

Treasures: More Than Just Money

Ah yes—money. Let’s address the elephant in the room. Stewardship of treasures isn’t just about tithing (although that’s part of it); it’s about how we handle all our resources. Are we generous? Are we using our finances to support kingdom work, help those in need, and invest in things that matter for eternity?

Remember, it’s not the amount that counts—it’s the heart. Whether you have much or little, faithful stewardship honours God and positions you to be a blessing.

 Temple: Taking Care of You

Stewardship also extends to your body—the “temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Are you eating well, staying active, and getting enough sleep? Taking care of yourself is a form of worship. After all, you can’t serve God or others effectively if you’re constantly running on empty.

The Environment: God’s Creation Matters

Finally, let’s not forget the earth. Stewardship includes caring for the environment because it’s God’s creation. Small acts—like recycling, conserving energy, or planting a tree—are ways we honour Him. Think of it as a way to “tend the garden” He’s placed us in, just like Adam and Eve were called to do.

Why Stewardship Matters

Here’s the bottom line: Stewardship is about faithfulness. It’s about taking what God has given us and using it to serve His kingdom, bless others, and grow closer to Him. And when we steward well, we unlock blessings—not just for ourselves, but for everyone around us.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:21, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” That’s what we’re aiming for, AMUC family. To hear those words one day and know we lived as faithful stewards of all He entrusted to us.

Your Challenge

So, here’s your challenge: Take one area—time, talents, treasures, temple, or the environment—and ask yourself, How can I steward this better this week? Start small but start now.

Let’s be a church that shines as an example of stewardship, not just within the walls of AMUC but in our homes, workplaces, and communities. Together, we can live out our calling as faithful stewards, bringing glory to God in everything we do.

You’ve got this! Let’s honour Him with all we’ve been given.
